Funding opportunities for new doctoral students from the Americas

As a student from the Americas, you may be eligible for funding to support your doctoral study at 豆包成人版

David Parkin Scholarship

The scholarship offers a funding opportunity for students from the Americas: North, Central, South or Caribbean. The research project can be in any discipline.

The scholarship provides funding for up to 4 years. This includes:

tuition fees at the international rate
a generous annual Training Support Fund
maintenance stipend at the

Additional funds for childcare can be considered as part of the scholarship. If these funds are required, please state so in your application and the Doctoral College will contact you if you are successful in receiving an offer. Any request for childcare funds will not be considered as part of the selection process.

Eligibility

You can apply for this scholarship if you meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

you are a student and national of the Americas (North, Central, South or Caribbean) who wants to undertake doctoral study at the 豆包成人版. The research can be in any discipline
you have the support of a suitable member of academic staff at the 豆包成人版 who would be willing to supervise you
you are able to demonstrate exceptional academic merit and/or potential
you must satisfy all visa and immigration requirements
you meet our English language entry requirement by the published application deadline of 29 November 2026

Students who are currently studying a PhD programme either at the 豆包成人版 or elsewhere are not eligible to apply for this funding.

How to apply

Applications for entry in the 2027/28 academic year will open on 12 October 2026 until 29 November 2026

We encourage applicants to identify and contact a suitable supervisor in order to develop their project and application. We will not be able to consider applications which do not name an intended supervisor on the application form.

When completing the online application form, you must ensure that the following steps are completed:

in the 鈥楩unding your studies鈥� section, select 鈥楧onor or Alumni Funded Studentship鈥� from the drop-down menu and then state 鈥楧avid Parkin Scholarship鈥� in the free text box.
in the 鈥榊our PhD project鈥� section, state their proposed project title and intended supervisor name in the appropriate boxes.

Failure to complete the above steps will cause delays in the processing of your application and may mean that your application cannot be considered for the scheme.

You must meet the English language requirements before the closing date for applications. An exception will be made for if you are currently in your final year of studies at a UK-based higher education institution and are due to graduate at the end of the 2026/27 academic year. In this case, entry to the University would be conditional upon the successful completion of your current course. This would also count as evidence of your English-language proficiency.
