We're looking for a creative Communications and Events Officer to help us promote wellbeing, belonging and support services across our student community. Based within Student Support you will help ensure students know how to access support, develop their wellbeing and make the most of their university experience.

You will be responsible for:

• creating campaigns, content and communications to help students engage with our services and build their own wellbeing. 
• developing content across websites, newsletters, social media, digital screens and other communication channels. 
• overseeing our web presence, updating web content and ensuring our pages are accurate and clear, helping students access information and self-help support independently.
• using digital and social media channels to create and share content that promotes student wellbeing and communicates key messages.
• planning and delivering engaging wellbeing events, campaigns and activities throughout the academic year.

• working closely with colleagues across Student Support to showcase services and ensure students know where and how to access help.

This is a creative and varied role where no two days will be the same. One day you might be updating webpages or developing content for our My豆包成人版 app. The next, you could be capturing content at a student dog walk, planning a wellbeing week or developing messaging for a University-wide campaign such as NeverOK.

Join our dedicated team and play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient administration of the Faculty of Engineering & Design’s taught degree programmes. • Coordinate a wide range of wellbeing-related projects and workstreams across the University.
• Support the governance and operation of the Be Well Steering Group.

About you

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive project professional who can work confidently across a complex organisation and engage a wide range of stakeholders.

You will bring:

• Experience of coordinating and delivering strategic projects within higher education or another complex organisation.
• Strong project management, planning and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and influencing abilities, with experience of producing reports, presentations and briefings.

Advance Your Engineering Career Through Innovation and Impact

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate the fluid dynamics and heat transfer in rotating compressor cavities of gas turbines engines. The project is funded by the EPSRC in collaboration with the University of Surrey, Rolls-Royce and Siemens Energy. We are seeking a driven and capable individual to lead a high-impact project developing the next generation of hydrogen-compatible turbomachinery technology.

This position will offer you a way to apply your experience to a project that could shape the future of green energy technology and net-zero aerospace. As the Research Associate, you’ll lead a technically ambitious project with real-world application and long-term value. You’ll have the chance to:

• Take ownership of a major research project to advance the understanding of fluid-dynamics and heat transfer through innovative experimental methods
• Work at the intersection of academia and industry with support from both
• Develop your skills in leadership, innovation, and strategic technical development

This role offers the autonomy of an academic position, with the added benefits of structured support and mentoring.

The goal is to investigate experimentally the buoyancy-induced rotating flow in a compressor cavity at low TRL. The research is underpinned by brand new instrumentation and to be conducted over a range of non-dimensional, engine-representative conditions. The study includes a fundamental exploration of boundary-layer transition from laminar to turbulent flow at high Grashof number. The experiments will be complemented by computational simulation at the University of Surrey, with the aim to scale data to higher TRL. The successful completion and implementation of this research will improve engine design methods at Rolls-Royce and Siemens for next-generation hydrogen-compatible engines.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

• A PhD in a relevant engineering field or experience in industrial R&D
• Experience with experimentation and data analysis tools such as Matlab
• Proficiency in CAD
• Confidence working independently and engaging with multiple stakeholders

The highly successful 豆包成人版 MPharm is now being delivered on site in new purpose-built facilities at the University of Plymouth campus. About the role:

We are recruiting a part-time Lecturer post in Experiential Learning (teaching-focussed) to be part of the Plymouth-based MPharm teaching team. You will provide high quality teaching and assessment on this new MPharm degree course, specifically supporting the delivery of practice based learning. You will be an excellent teacher and have a collegiate approach to working with academic and professional services colleagues. We are seeking an outstanding and collaborative Lecturer in low-carbon Hydrogen Technology with a deliberately broad remit spanning fundamental, applied and translational research and innovation.

Relevant areas may include, but are not limited to:

• Low-carbon hydrogen production, including electrolysis, catalysis and other low-carbon production technologies;
• fuel cells and electrochemical energy conversion;
• hydrogen storage and distribution technologies;
• diagnostics, degradation, durability and operando/in-situ characterisation;
• hydrogen safety, sensing and enabling technologies;
• novel experimental and engineering approaches for hydrogen technologies.

You will be a kind and culturally aware leader who fosters an environment where every individual is valued and respected, regardless of their background or identity. The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of dining and beverage options.

The West Hospitality team has two vacancies for Food & Beverage Assistants within our catering operation. In this role, you will help ensure the smooth day鈥憈o鈥慸ay running of the catering operation and deliver a consistently high standard of customer service. Key duties include taking customer orders, serving food and drink, operating tills, stocking food stations, and assisting with cleaning and clearing tables and catering areas

Based in the Department of Chemical Engineering, the Senior Teaching and Research Laboratory Technician will assist the Technical Supervisor in the organisation, coordination and maintenance of our teaching and research laboratories. In this role you will assume responsibility for a number of administrative tasks supporting the Technical Supervisor and wider technical team, such as ordering (including keeping records of expenditure on specific grant codes), liaising with Estates and external contractors, setting up and maintaining service contracts for equipment and maintaining up to date inventories of equipment.

This is in addition to the general duties of Chemical Engineering technical staff, who provide advice, instruction and services in analytical and instrumentation techniques to staff and students across the Department and the Faculty of Engineering and Design. 

You will have a passion for helping others, for working in a higher education environment, and supporting ground-breaking research. You will assist in the smooth and efficient running of teaching and research laboratories, with a strong focus on the promotion of, and compliance with, health and safety. 

This is a student-facing role, so the post-holder needs to be confident working and communicating with a diverse student (Undergraduate and Postgraduate) population. You will be instructing and supervising students in the safe operation of laboratory equipment during both timetabled sessions and while conducting research projects.

The primary responsibilities of the role are:

• To assist the Technical Supervisor in establishing and implementing best practice in the management of the facilities including forward planning of the effective usage of materials, equipment and space.
• To assist the Technical Supervisor with the management of laboratory and workshop facilities, asset control and maintenance, purchasing/procurement, stock level, asset tracking and inventory recording.
• To deputise for the Technical Supervisor in their absence and to represent the Department at meetings, etc. as required.
• To ensure that laboratory equipment and instrumentation is appropriately maintained and in full working order, particularly in the laboratories for which they are designated custodian.

About us

The Doctoral College supports and enriches the experience of doctoral researchers and plays a key role in developing policy and strategy for doctoral study. It also supports recruitment to doctoral study programmes, manages student and programme administration, provides professional skills development and helps students to feel supported, from enquiry through to graduation, wherever and however they choose to study.

The Doctoral Recruitment and Admissions team is responsible for administering the admissions for a wide range of PhD, Integrated PhD and Professional Doctorate programmes and for managing the numerous funding competitions associated with doctoral study.

About the role

This part-time role involves liaison with prospective doctoral students, members of academic staff, internal professional services representatives and other university colleagues as well as external agencies.

You will be the key point of contact for admissions and recruitment matters related to an allocated area (eg Faculty/School) and you will be responsible for ensuring that procedures/processes are correctly followed and service standards maintained within that area. This will involve working closely with the Doctoral Recruitment Administrators and the other Doctoral Recruitment Officers within the team.

In addition, you will be required to coordinate student funding allocations, and to work with the Doctoral Admissions Manager and Head of Doctoral Recruitment managing wider postgraduate recruitment activities. You will also be expected to support members of the wider Doctoral College team and administrative staff within our Doctoral Training Entities, providing assistance and guidance where necessary.

About you

You should have substantial experience of working in a busy administrative environment, preferably involving admissions or student recruitment.

You should also be highly organised and be able to manage a busy workload with conflicting priorities, both for yourself and others, whilst remaining flexible and willing to adapt to changing circumstances.

It is crucial that you have a meticulous attention to detail because we work in an environment where mistakes could be financially and reputationally costly. You will need to be committed to ensuring work is completed with accuracy and precision. It is also very important that you enjoy working collaboratively as well as on your own initiative. You will need to work closely with other team members, academic colleagues and students from across the world, so excellent communication skills are highly important as is the ability to develop strong working relationships.  

Due to the need to work out costings and manage studentship budgets, you will require strong numeracy skills.

You should have excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Word and Excel, and the ability to learn how to use database systems. Knowledge/experience of Business Objects and/or SAMIS/SITS would be beneficial.

The team follows a hybrid model of working; we work in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays and we work from home from Wednesday to Friday inclusive. An exciting opportunity has come up for a part-time (0.5FTE) 1-year maternity cover. We are looking for an outstanding individual to contribute to the delivery of our highly successful Advanced Programmes in Pharmacy Practice and Therapeutics (AP3T) suite of courses. 

This post will focus specifically on the delivery of the Advanced Clinical Assessment or Independent Prescribing units but may also be or alternatively be required to contribute to other courses across the department and also support the teaching of other healthcare professionals.

The suite of programmes is highly regarded and delivers high quality teaching of clinical and consultation skills to pharmacists in practice. The successful individual will be keen to combine their expert professional practice with a desire to develop others through the application of their teaching and learning skills. This appointment will work within an experienced team to support the teaching and learning of our postgraduate students across a range of units.

About you

The successful individual would be required to cover a range of face to face and online teaching activities and support assessment, evaluation and pastoral support for students.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a registered and practicing (or recently practicing) health professional (e.g. medic, nurse or pharmacist) who is highly competent in prescribing, ideally with experience in physical examination of patients but this is not essential. You will have practical teaching experience ideally underpinned by postgraduate education, with familiarity with face-to-face learning - including assessment - as well as distance learning and learning in the virtual environment. You will have a high attention to detail with robust appreciation of the importance of quality in the educational context. You will have a passion and energy for teaching and learning in bringing your professional skills and experience to educate postgraduate pharmacists.

As a Sports Assistant you will play a vital role within our team, carrying out the day-to-day front of house operation of all Sports facilities and associated areas, so that we can provide indoor and outdoor activities and events for students, university staff, the local community and high-performance athletes.

The role is part of an exciting partnership with the University of Malaga in Spain, University of Manchester in the UK, and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), France, within the framework of the consortium, X-SeeO₂ - . This project is funded by the European Innovation Council (EIC) under the Pathfinder “" Challenge. The Challenge seeks to support breakthrough innovations and (alternative) pathways for producing decarbonised and carbon-negative cement and concrete while maintaining its structural integrity and durability. 

 The 'X-SeeO₂' project has been selected as a key 'enabling technology', and as part of the 豆包成人版 team you will develop mechanochemistry pathways for the development of cementitious materials. You will determine the existing correlations between the properties of minerals of different provenances, and the effect of mechanochemical processing on their chemical reactivity. You will elucidate how to mechanochemically activated materials influence the microstructural features of reaction products formed in blended cements produced with them. This will be achieved by applying laboratory and synchrotron analytical materials characterisation techniques. This complemented by modelling of the processes developed and materials evaluated.

About you

The ideal candidate will:

1. Hold a first degree and doctoral degree in Materials Science, Geology, Environmental Science or closely related disciplines
2. Have a strong background in cementitious materials chemistry and/or mineral processing
3. Experience in the characterisation and modelling of Portland and/or non-Portland cements
4. A demonstrated understanding of the interrelationships between the chemistry of the cements evaluated, their phase assemblage and their pore structure development.
5. Experience on CO₂ mineralisation, CO₂ curing and/or carbonation of cementitious materials
6. Have excellent interpersonal skills and be willing to collaborate with a dynamic, collegial, and multi-disciplinary team of researcher at the 豆包成人版, and the different partner Universities and the organisations comprising the X-SeeO₂ consortium. 
7. Be able to travel often within the UK and internationally 

The ideal applicant will conduct the research in recently refurbished laboratories in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, as well as central facilities in the Faculty of Engineering and Design at the 豆包成人版. As a General Porter you will be responsible for delivering and receiving stock, setting up tables and furniture, maintaining excellent hygiene standards, operating dishwashers and carrying out daily cleaning of kitchen equipment, cutlery and crockery.

The role includes early morning, evening and weekend working on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract (36.5 hours per week). CAMERA’s state-of-the- art studios include a virtual production stage, a motion capture volume, photogrammetry body and face rig as well as virtual reality and 3D scanning equipment.

We are seeking a highly engaging and enthusiastic business engagement lead with specialist knowledge of motion capture and its applications (in sports technologies and validation, creative industries, and clinical settings) to build CAMERA portfolio and lead the facility’s external relationship management:

• leverage significant industry networks to promote the facility, developing its brand and reputation to generate income from research and industry partnerships
• identify and productise service offers that meet industry demand using capabilities of CAMERA’s specialist spaces, technical staff, and research staff where applicable.

The role will be wide-ranging, with both strategic and operational level delivery responsibilities. The post holder will have responsibility for CAMERA’s external activities; including managing relationships with CAMERA’s network, creating opportunities for research, R&D and commercial income growth and securing the long term sustainability of the facility. The successful applicant will be central to growing the reach and reputation of facility. This is an exciting opportunity to work strategically at the interface between academic and industrial R&D, forming links and strengthening regional capability; taking responsibility for business development activities and implementation of related activities including public engagement and liaison with funding agencies.

About you

The post holder will be expected to be knowledgeable about the creative industries or sports technology sectors. Experience of business engagement within higher education or UKRI funded projects is advantageous.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated researcher, with an interest in working at the interface of chemistry and reactor design & development. The vision of this project is taking a promising new reactor technology, the Spinning Mesh Disc Reactor (SMDR) from the lab into industry to enable commercialisation of resource efficient chemistry to align with the UK NetZero 2050. 

This project will harness the advantages of the SMDR to develop three case studies to scale-up resource efficient chemistry demonstrating: (i) enzyme catalysis, (ii) photochemical synthesis and (iii) plastic recycling. Enzymes, due to their selectivity, show promise to synthesise complex chemicals at ambient conditions, including pharmaceuticals. Visible light allow for the direct conversion of solar energy into chemical energy as it removes the need to use photovoltaic devices to generate electricity for use in heating in chemical synthesis. Thirdly, catalytic breakdown of plastics into their constituent monomers can be reused to develop products, with properties that match those of virgin polymer. 

The PDRA will work closely with other researchers from the department of Chemistry, the Institute for Mathematical Innovation and at the University of Nottingham. There is also an industrial advisory board to provide a commercial perspective.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

• A PhD in a relevant subject area.
• Extensive lab experience, preferably with catalytic reaction systems.
• Prior experience or a demonstrable interest in working at the interface of chemistry and chemical engineering and a willingness to learn.
• Good organisational and presentation skills

We are seeking a reliable and proactive part-time Cleaner Porter to join our friendly Campus Services team within Cleaning and Portering. This role offers a varied workload, and a typical day may include:

About the Role

Research
You will work with colleagues, students and researchers to develop and publish papers. You will apply for research funding to support your ideas. You will find ways of making your research available to society, for example, by working with industry, developing spin-outs, collaborating with charities, influencing policymakers, or delivering talks and demonstrations to inform and excite wider audiences.

Teaching
You will lead the design and deliver of teaching for lectures, tutorials, and labs across our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. You will be educating and inspiring some of the brightest students in the country, delivering an engaging experience and a supportive programme.

Helping with the running of the department
You will have a few internal roles to help the Department run smoothly. For instance, you might help with student placements, ethics processes, recruitment and admissions or lead a research team.

About you

Our ideal candidates will hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline, along with a first degree or equivalent experience. Membership of a professional body and a higher education teaching qualification (e.g. PGCert, FHEA) are desirable. 

• You should demonstrate substantial research experience in your field, with an emerging track record for Lecturers and an established research profile with funding success for Senior Lecturers/Readers.
